Summer camps at LCA

We are excited to announce that Laconia Christian Academy will be offering three weeks of TimberNook Camps! We had a fabulous summer last year and are excited to do it again in 2023!

If you are looking for a summer camp experience for your child that is both fun and developmentally enriching look no further; TimberNook Summer Camps are sure to inspire creativity, provoke ingenuity, and provide adventure!

Early Education

We ignite curiosity and wonder in our youngest students through a nature and play-based program.

Lower School

The Whole-Child Approach

Let Them Play

Play is not a break from learning—it is learning. Have you ever heard someone say, “Play is the work of childhood”? We can’t dismiss play as enjoyment only, because it is the means of deep and lasting learning and development during childhood. Play is natural but it is also essential.

Service-Learning Trips

Our students don’t need pampering, they need to experience the world! Through cross-cultural travel, their comfortable ideas of God, faith, and culture are stretched as they encounter the diverse beauty of other places and people.

As a student, my years at Laconia Christian Academy were enhanced by the relationships I had with my teachers. They encouraged my talent in writing, guided me in my creativity, and challenged me to think through philosophies of history in light of Scripture. It is because of their care and attention, that I went on to study education at Cairn University and a Master’s of liberal arts at St John’s College in Annapolis. I spent six years in Vienna, Austria at the International Christian School of Vienna teaching high school geography and history, before I felt called back to teach in the very place –LCA– that was so special and formative for me as a student.

We recently made the transition from homeschooling to having our three oldest children attend LCA. The faculty and staff have created age-appropriate environments that have enabled our children to thrive in the new setting. Our youngest is part of the preschool program and has been nurtured by the thoughtful and loving teachers. We appreciate that LCA gives them ample time outdoors — like the extra recess on the playground before school starts.

Upper School students came out for some Harvest Party fun that included a mile-high blaze, volunteer-prepared yummy tacos (thank you!), and games!

Reading Buddies are back!

PreK and 8th grade students came together and read "The Cool Bean" and discussed how kindness is cool. 😎

This LCA tradition is not only inspiring reading, but it's also a time of meaningful connection between our littlest students and their big-kid buddies.

All this and more in our Outdoor Leadership class!

Recently, Mr. Greene taught Upper School students how to hypowrap a hypothermic patient and how to hang “bear bags.” As usual, this knowledge is applied with hands-on practice!

Entertainment for a great cause! 🎭

Our annual Talent Show was an evening of hilarity, music, and community. Between the Talent Show's proceeds and additional donations, more than $2,000 was raised to benefit the Rwandan Children's Fund (rwandacef.org) and our own musical theatre program!

Thank you to all students and staff who participated and planned this amusing evening! Thank you to those who donated beyond what was expected to impact the lives of students in Rwanda – we're proud of this big-hearted community whose faith compels action. 🫶

At LCA, we ❤ field trips!
👉Tide pooling fun at the Seacoast Science Center for students in grades 2 & 3! 🌊
👉Native American learning at Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum for students in grades 4 & 5! 🍂

Second and third-grade students listened to a naturalist describe the different creatures they might find – small lobsters, hermit crabs, sea urchins, green crabs, and rock gunnels – before they explored the tide pools themselves. Students found many hermit crabs and green crabs and one student even found a baby sea urchin!

Mrs. Officer said, "This field trip aligned well with what the second graders are learning in science: warm blooded and cold blooded animals, as well as classifying animals."

At Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum in Warner, fourth and fifth-grade students were given a guided tour from which they learned about Native American culture, art, and the lifestyles of various tribes throughout the United States. They also toured their "medicine woods," learning about different plants Native Americans used for medicinal purposes.

Mrs. Mitchell said, "We're studying Native American culture as part of our current ELA module and our American history class. This was a perfect fit."

HOLIDAY CARDS 4 OUR MILITARY!🎄

Eversource Energy's Melissa Price visited our elementary school last week and hosted a card-making party with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-graders. These handmade cards will be distributed worldwide to far-from-home soldiers during the holiday season.
