General Information:

The purpose for the Lake Region Arts Festival is to Praise our Glorious God and Celebrate his creation through the artistic talents he has given us. All entries must be in good taste. Topics of an ugly or negative nature can be found in Scripture and may be legitimate art forms. However, the purpose of the art festival is to portray a positive image of His creation. All selections should reflect this.

Participants are to ensure that their performances glorify God and not themselves. Students are not to emulate the antics of secular pop stars. Students should consider it important to select items that are least likely to cause offense to other Christians, remembering the principals of Romans 14:13 to 15:3, 1 Cor 8:9. Raucous music and shallow, repetitive lyrics should be avoided. On the other hand, Christians with extremely conservative tastes in music are asked to exercise some moderation in their judgment of other styles of music.

1. All performances for a particular category must occur within the time scheduled for that category.
2. Providing an accompanist is the responsibility of the entrant(s). If the participant wishes to use the accompanist provided by the festival then they must indicate this on their registration submission form and submit the required fee. They must also send in an original copy of their music clearly marked to Laconia Christian School no later than May 13th 2009.
3. Performance time limits will be enforced. Deductions will be taken if overages occur.
4. Only standard, published repertoire may be performed.
5. Appropriate competition dress is required. No jeans, shorts, tee shirts will be allowed. Please see individual categories for specific information. Please address any questions regarding appropriate attire for your category to your instructor/coordinator or Festival Chairperson.
6. Only registered participants in an event will be heard and evaluated by the judges.
7. Availability of awards are based on the number of entrants registered in any particular category.
8. All decisions made by the judges are final, and will be announced at the competition site as soon as possible following the compilation of results for each category.
9. First Place winners will be invited to perform/and display their work at the awards ceremony at the end of the festival day. Please see Visual Art information for special instructions.

Objectives of the Festival:

2. To encourage participants to improve upon their abilities so that they perform them skillfully
3. To give participants an opportunity to fellowship together in an artistically stimulating environment
