Categories: This is not an exhaustive list. If you have a question about a piece, e-mail the chairperson at the address listed at the bottom of the visual art section.
Painting: media – acrylics, airbrush, finger paints, oil, tempera, water color
Drawing: Color or Black and White: media – chalk, charcoal, ink, pencil, pigma/technical, pen, scratchboard, colored pencil, crayons, markers, colored ink, pastels
Printmaking: media – etchings, engravings, monotypes, intaglio, rubbings, silkscreen, sponge
Graphic Design: abstract, patterns/design, architectural/commercial designs, hand lettering
Sculpture: Relief or Freestanding: media – pottery, ceramic (handmade by student), metal, papier mache, plaster, soap, stone, wool
Photography: Digital or Film: black and white or color, landscape, portrait, still life, animals, abstract
Reenactments of Famous Artworks: Student recreates a piece of artwork, removing a figure and inserting an image of himself into the piece. This uses photography and/or computer paint programs and may combine with drawing and painting. The final piece must be presented as an 8 x 10 print displayed along with an 8 x 10 of the original famous artwork.
Fabric Art: cloth mosaic/collage, embroidery (own design), fabric painting, string art, weaving, quilting
Paper Art: handmade paper, diorama, origami, paper mosaic, collage, paper projects
Mixed Media: A combination of two or more categories can be entered in its dominant category
Computer Produced/Enhanced Art: artwork produced entirely in electronic form, original creation or digitally enhanced student generated work

Theater
Theater Categories are as follows:
- Monologue, maximum of 2 contrasting pieces can be presented, 3 minute minimum with a 5 minute maximum, which includes a verbal introduction
- Two person scene, 5 minute minimum with a 10 minute maximum, which includes a verbal introduction

Vocal
The Vocal Categories are as follows:
- Solo: Maximum of 2 contrasting pieces. Selections should be 3 minute minimum with a 10 minute maximum, this includes your verbal introduction of the piece(s) to be performed.
- Duet: Maximum of 2 contrasting pieces. Selections should be 3 minute minimum with a 10 minute maximum, this includes your verbal introduction of the piece to be performed.
- Ensemble: 3 pieces one of which needs to be acappella (minimum of 5 participants needed) combined selections should be 5 minute minimum with a 20 minute maximum, this includes the verbal introduction of the pieces.

Instrumental
The Instrumental Categories are as follows:
- Solo selections should be 3 minute minimum with a 5 minute maximum. This includes your verbal introduction of the piece.
- Duet/Trio selections should be 3 minute minimum with a 5 minute maximum. This includes your verbal introduction of the piece
- Ensemble (4 to 15 participants) selections should be 3 minute minimum with a 10 minute maximum. This includes the verbal introduction of the piece.

Dance
The Dance Styles and Categories are as follows:
Styles: Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Folk
Categories:
Solo - 3 minute minimum 5 minutes maximum, this includes a verbal introduction
Duet - 3 minute minimum 5 minutes maximum, this includes a verbal introduction
Small group (3 to 8 members) 3:30 minute minimum 5 minute maximum, this includes a verbal introduction
Large Group (9 plus members) 4 minute minimum to 8 minute maximum, this includes a verbal introduction
